Merry Christmas and Happy New Goal Setting
Happy New Goal setting? You may be asking
yourself, "is that some kind of new Christmas greeting?" Well I guess it is. I am emphasising that many people take time over the Christmas break to reflect on the year that has past and to assess what
they would like to achieve in the
coming year.
You may be desiring a shift in the way you spend your time, you
may be contemplating a change of job, a new career or ceasing paid work altogether. Or it may be other areas of your life that need an overhaul or at least a fine tune. Perhaps
getting fit, shedding a few kilos or
traveling overseas.
Even if you aren't thinking of making any changes it is always healthy to conduct a self assessment because you might be cruising along nicely when you should be considering a change. You might
need to get out of your comfort
zone again.
So step back
and reflect on the year, your achievements and challenges and decide what you want to carry into next year. Think about what is important to you in each facet of your life (Faith, Family, Friends,
Finances, Formation i.e. education and development, Fitness
and Fun).
Write down the goals you have for each of the seven "F" areas of life and make sure you write down a time frame for completing your goals and the first action step
you should take to establish momentum in
accomplishing them.
Remember not to go through this process without
prayer and biblical reflection. Ensure your goals are in line with biblical principles. Test your goals are faith based goals and not your own personal self centered motives and ambitions. Make sure they are
goals placed on your heart and mind
by God.
Don't just put Christ back into Christmas this season but put Christ back into your life by setting faith based goals during the holiday season
that will guide your decision making throughout
the year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New
Goal setting.
